Problem with CRM 4.0 outlook client & Outlook 2010Beta

Dear All,

In my laptop I have windows-7 & office 2010 Beta. Today when I tried to install CRM client for Outlook its giving
error "Setup failed to determine whether a supported version of Microsoft Outlook is installed"

What should I do? Can any one give me some solution?

You can mail me at susanta_rony@yahoo.com

  1. Fails the same with the release version of Outlook 2010. I would expect an updated version of the client that will work with OL2010 to follow in the next month or two. Not sure if upgrading Outlook 2007 with the client already installed works (too late for me as I uninstalled first).

  2. I've found a solution for this issue with our RTM 32bit version of Office 2010. When you're in that window with the error, right click in your taskbar on the installation wizard icon and choose for "close window" (so don't use the cancel button). The wizard will then ask for conformation, choose yes and the wizard will continue installing..

    strange, but worked for us.

  3. The above solution worked for me aswell - Windows 7 Enterprise, Outlook 2010 Retail with CRM4

Just close the setup window and setup will continue unabated!

    Excellent tip!!

  5. A friend of mine found this fix and we thought it might work for CRM 3.0 and Office 10 with XP. I get that exact same error and it didn't work on the 3.0 version. I know that Office 10 and CRM 3.0 are compatible because we installed it on a brand new Window 7 machine. Any suggestions for a XP system?

  6. I work on a plant. One day when I had spare time I opened my MS Outlook and understood that my data was missed. I lost my head and some time didn't know what to do next. Luckily for me a friend advised me a possible resolution. I was happy and on my view this software has rather qualities for helping in this condition - convert .ost file.
